Bar sued over woman's fall from stool

An Illinois woman is alleging the employee of a Madison County bar caused injuries to her low back and spinal discs after he accidentally pushed her off a stool.

Michelle Wieneke filed a lawsuit April 22 in Madison County Circuit Court against Daddie-O's Nite Out.

Wieneke says she was visiting the Wood River bar on June 8 when an employee greeted her with a slap on the shoulder.

The slap was "of sufficient force to push Plaintiff off the stool, thereby causing Plaintiff to fall violently onto the hard floor impacting the area of her low back and buttocks," the suit states.

In addition to her injuries, Wieneke says she incurred medical bills, lost earnings and her earning capacity and experienced a diminished capacity to enjoy life, according to the complaint.

By failing to warn Wieneke that he was about to slap her, the employee was negligent, Wieneke alleges.

Wieneke is seeking an unspecified judgment, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Bill T. Walker of Granite City and James E. Parrot of St. Louis will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-416.
