Auto accident near Showplace is subject of suit

Two women are suing the driver of a vehicle and its owner after they say they received nose, face and knee injuries in a collision.

On April 20, Jennifer and Becky Eaves filed a complaint against Stephanie Grimm and Martin Petrie in Madison County Circuit Court.

They say they were in a vehicle near the entrance of the Edwardsville Showplace 12 on Sept. 7, 2005, when Martin Petrie hit the vehicle, which was located directly to the left.

Stephanie Grimm owned the vehicle Petrie was driving with her permission, the complaint says.

According to the complaint, both women were made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and received injuries to the soft tissues of their cervical and lumbar areas. They also say they incurred medical costs, suffered disability and experienced pain and suffering.

They say Grimm and Petrie failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a way as to strike another vehicle, failed to properly apply the brakes, failed to yield the right-of-way and drove too fast.

In the four-count suit, the Eaves are seeking a judgment in excess of $200,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing them.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-395.
