Kruta bakery named in personal injury suit

A St. Clair County man and his wife have filed suit against a Madison County man and the company for which he was working, alleging they were seriously injured after a collision.

Ronald Leflore was driving north on North Illinois with Connie riding as his passenger when Jim Kruta, Jr., who was also driving north, collided with their vehicle, according to the complaint filed Nov. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

At the time of the accident, Kruta was working for Kruta Bakery, the suit states.

Because of the accident, Ronald sustained injuries to his neck, right shoulder and body, the suit states.

Connie claims she suffered injuries to her head, neck, back, left shoulder and body.

Both Ronald and Connie were hindered and prevented from attending to their usual duties and affairs, lost money and suffered great physical and mental pain and anguish, according to the complaint.

The couple also incurred substantial medical costs, the suit states.

They claim Kruta was negligent because he failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to see the Leflores, failed to keep his vehicle under control, failed to brake, failed to decrease his speed and failed to turn to avoid a collision.

In addition, Kruta negligently failed to give proper warning and followed the Leflores too closely, according to the complaint.

In the three-count suit, the Leflores are seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

They are represented by Michael P. Hickey of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-613.
