Edwardsville collision leads to suit

Vicky J. Boyd has filed suit against Drazen Bertanjoli and Patricia A. Boyd, alleging she received neck and back injuries after a collision in Edwardsville.

Vicky was a passenger in a car Patricia was driving north on Illinois Route 157 near its intersection with Southern Illinois University South Access Road on April 27, 2007, at 2:58 p.m., the complaint filed Sept. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court states.

Bertanjoli was driving south on Southern Illinois University Access Road when he collided with the car Patricia was driving, the suit states.

Vicky claims she suffered neck and back injuries, pain, disability and a diminution of earning capacity after the accident.

She was responsible for medical costs, according to the complaint.

Bertanjoli was negligent because he failed to reduce his speed in order to avoid the collision, drove too fast, failed to obey a traffic signal and failed to keep a proper lookout, the suit states.

Vicky claims Patricia was negligent because she failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast, failed to obey a traffic signal, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to keep a proper lookout.

In the two-count suit, Vicky is seeking a judgment in excess of that necessary to confer jurisdiction to circuit court, plus costs.
