Man sues OB/GYN for failing to timely diagnose wife's breast cancer

Brad Vahlkamp alleges a delayed breast cancer diagnosis caused a detrimental effect on his deceased wife's prognosis.

Vahlkamp filed a wrongful death and survival action suit against Belleville obstetrician/gynecologist Michael E. Herrmann, M.D., claiming he failed to timely diagnose cancer when Stacey Vahlkamp presented with a lump in her right breast on Nov. 17, 2004.

She died Dec. 26, 2007, according to a complaint filed April 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Brad Vahlkamp also has named physician assistant Pam Simpson and the practice, Michael E. Herrmann, M.D. Ltd., as defendants.

Represented by Thomas Q. Keefe of Belleville, Vahlkamp is seeking in excess of $450,000 in damages plus costs of the suit.
