Greg Durbin alleges his employer Columbia Car Care terminated him for filing a workers' compensation claim, according to a civil suit filed July 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Represented by Daniel K. Juncker of Belleville, Durbin claims he sustained a work-related injury on June 21, 2006.
"Thereafter plaintiff notified defendant of his intention to assert his rights pursuant to the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act and subsequently exercised his right to medical treatment and other benefits under the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act," the complaint states.
Durbin claims he was wrongfully discharged May 18.
He claims he has suffered lost income and benefits, has sustained injury to his reputation and mental anguish, He is seeking in excess of $150,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.
