A St. Louis County woman who allegedly tripped over cat litter at a local Schnucks Market filed a personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court July 5.

Veronica Fields claims while grocery shopping on May 11, 2006, she tripped and fell over several bags of cat litter that were stacked in an aisle of the Schnucks store located on State Street in East. St. Louis.

"By stacking bags of cat litter in the aisle, defendant caused and created an impediment in the plaintiff's walkway," the complaint states.

Fields claims the fall caused severe, permanent and progressive injuries to her hips and knees, pain, suffering and medical expenses.

Represented by Joshua Myers of St. Louis, Fields is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, but less than $75,000.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David Hylla.
