Woman blames Wal-Mart for television falling on her foot

A St. Clair County woman who sustained leg, ankle and foot injuries claims Wal-Mart failed to instruct its employees in proper and safe methods of handling merchandise.

Darlous Robinson filed a personal injury suit May 4 against the retail giant in St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging the employee dropped a television set on her on May 7, 2005. The incident occurred at the store located at 1511 Camp Jackson Rd. in Cahokia.

Represented by Jeanne L. Aubuchon of Neubauer, Aubuchon & Dodd in Fairview Heights, Robinson is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.

She claims her ability to work and to attend to her duties has been greatly reduced since the accident. She claims lost earnings and medical expenses.

According to the complaint, Wal-Mart also was negligent for failing to properly secure its merchandise and failing to warn of dangerous conditions on the premises.
