Richard Darr alleges he was discharged from employment for filing a workers' compensation claim, according to a suit filed March 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Truck Centers Inc. of Troy.

Darr, who was a service manager, claims he was injured in a work-related accident on Aug. 28, 2005. He filed an injury claim on June 22, 2006, and was discharged on July 7, 2006, the complaint states.

The two-count suit seeks in excess of $100,000 in damages, plus costs.

"The defendant knowingly made defamatory comments concerning the plaintiff by its manager, Charles Voyles, in that statements were knowingly and maliciously communicated to staff members which were untruthful which attacked the integrity and reputation of the plaintiff for being honest thereby causing great emotional distress and impacting the plaintiff's standing in the community in which he works," the complaint states.

Darr is represented by Greg Roosevelt of Edwardsville.
