Alice I. Stidham is suing a Fairview Heights grocery story for injuries sustained after she tripped and fell on Dec. 9, 2004, according to a complaint filed Dec. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Stidham is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages from Aldi Inc. for injuries to her head, face, mouth, teeth, neck, shoulders, back, trunk, arms, hands, fingers, legs, knees, feet and the remainder of her body.

Stidham, represented by Rhonda D. Fiss of Belleville, claims she tripped over a bar located on or about the shopping cart enclosure or "corral."

She claims the defendants, including Aldi Foods and John and Jane Doe, should have known that the bar involved an unreasonable risk of harm to invitees. She also claims the defendants failed to warn her of the danger imposed by the bar on the premises.
