Anderson sued for visitor's slip and fall
A woman who tripped and fell at Anderson Hospital in Maryville filed a personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court Dec. 4, seeking damages in excess of $100,000.
Paulette Green claims that on Dec. 8, 2004, she was present in a labor and delivery room at Anderson and became entangled in wires causing her to slip and fall.
According to Green, Anderson failed to stow and secure the wires from a piece of medical equipment that was not being used. Green also states that she was not a patient at the hospital at the time of the alleged injury.
Green claims Anderson was negligent by failing to warn her of the wires, failed to maintain the wires in a safe position off of the floor, failed to properly inspect the floor and failed to barricade the area until the wires had been picked up off of the floor.
"Anderson knew or should have expected that persons such as the plaintiff would not discover or realize the dangers of the negligent acts and protect themselves against said dangers," the complaint states.
Green also claims Anderson failed to protect her from the dangers posed by the wires on the floor.
She claims the fall caused her to suffer damages which are personal, pecuniary and permanent including a comminuted impacted right distal radius fracture requiring external fixation.
Green also claims she has paid more than $28,000 in medical expenses, has lost wages, suffered pain and mental anguish.
Green is represented by Creighton J. Cohn of Clayton, Mo.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
