Krispy Kreme customer slips on water in bathroom

A Fairview Heights Krispy Kreme Doughnut customer claims back and spine injuries after slipping and falling on water from a bathroom floor.

According to a lawsuit filed Nov. 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Jason L. Restoff alleges the doughnut maker and the owner of the building Charles F. Donohue are negligent for:

  • Operating a restroom in an improper and careless manner;

  • Disregarding public health and safety precautions;

  • Failing to maintain a clean and dry restroom;

  • Failing to regularly check the restroom for safety hazards; and

  • Failing to use materials that are conducive to maintaining a restroom that meets public health and safety requirements.

    The incident took place at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2004.

    Represented by Stephen R. Clark of Courtney, Clark & Associates in Belleville, Restoff is seeking in excess of $250,000 plus costs of the lawsuit.
