Iron worker sues AmerenIP and Anderson Electric

An iron worker working at the Ameren IP plant in Coffeen filed a personal injury suit against Anderson Electric and Ameren IP in Madison County Circuit Court July 24.

James Whitaker claims that on March 14 he fell on equipment left by Anderson Electric, a contractor performing work at the Coffeen plant.

Whitaker, seeking damages in excess of $100,000, alleges Anderson failed to use reasonable care in its operations by failing to properly clean its job site, failing to warn of the debris left behind and allowed electric conduit to remain on the floor.

He claims Ameren IP failed to supervise subcontractors on the job, allowed subcontractors to leave debris and other materials on the ground, failed to supervise work on the job site and failed to require certain contractors to clean up when they were finished.

Represented by Jon Rosenstengel of Belleville, Whitaker claims the injuries he sustained when he fell over the debris caused him to lose wages, become liable for medical expenses, suffer pain and the loss of a normal life.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
