Bi-State Development Agency is being sued by a passenger who claims a bus driver caused her to fall in the aisle.
According to a lawsuit filed June 2 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Roszina Robinson of East St. Louis alleges she suffered serious and permanent injuries after the driver pulled the bus forward while she was proceeding to the front to pay.
The incident took place June 6, 2005.
"The action of the driver, acting in the course and scope of his employment, in pulling the bus forward while Ms. Robinson was standing in the aisle walking toward the front of the bus, was in violation of his duty to act with the highest degree of care," the complaint states.
Represented by Ronald A. Roth of Roth, Evans & Lading of Granite City, Robinson claims the driver was negligent for disregarding his instructions to her and for failing to ascertain that all passengers were safely seated on the bus prior to starting.
She is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages, plus costs of the suit.
