Bible study hosts sued by guest

Theresa Hunt is suing the hosts of a Bible study group for injuries she sustained after tripping on raised pavement in their driveway.

The defendants, Chris and Mary Beth Robinson, reside at 8476 Triple Lakes Rd. in Dupo.

According to the two-count lawsuit filed May 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Hunt was carrying food to the front door when she tripped over a speedbump. The incident took place May 11, 2004.

"...Theresa Hunt, while carrying food into the defendant's home for consumption of the Bible study group...tripped on the 'speed bump' nearest the front door which was not visible to the plaintiff," the complaint states.

The lawsuit claims the Robinsons are negligent for failing to warn guests that the driveway had speed bumps when they knew or should have known that a failure to do so created a serious risk of injury.

Represented by Michael N. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin of Belleville, Hunt is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.

Hunt claims she sustained great pain and mental anguish and will lose large sums of money by her inability to work, and that she has incurred expenses for hospital and medical treatment.
