Schnuck's employee sues customer for running over him in parking lot

A Schnuck's employee filed a personal injury suit against Gregory Millsap of Alton, claiming that Millsap backed his 2000 Mazda into him while he was sweeping the parking lot at the Godfrey Schnuck's store on May 9, 2004.

James Carroll claims that Millsap failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of others when he failed to keep a proper lookout for pedestrians in the parking lot, backed his vehicle when it was unsafe to do so and failed to keep his vehicle under proper control.

He also claims that Millsap failed to brake his car in time, failed to steer his vehicle to avoid striking him and improperly backed his vehicle.

According to the complaint, Carroll suffered injuries to his left hand, neck and back which caused him to suffer pain of the body and mind, incur medical expenses and lose large sums of money he otherwise would have earned.

Represented by Samuel Mormino of Alton, Carroll is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Lola Maddox.
