Woman stabbed at Eagles in Alton sues

Alton Aerie No. 254 Fraternal Order of Eagles

A woman who was stabbed with an ice pick at an Eagles Club in Alton is suing the organization for more than $50,000 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Laura Doolittle claims that on Nov. 26, 2004, she was at the Alton Aerie No. 254 Fraternal Order of Eagles on East Broadway, when William Massey stabbed her in the chest.

According to the complaint filed Nov. 22, the Eagles served alcohol to Massey, which caused him to become intoxicated.

Doolittle claims she sustained damages to her chest area, physical and emotional pain and suffering, medical expenses and wage losses.

Massey was sentenced to five years in prison after being charged with aggravated battery. He is expected to be paroled in late 2006.

She is represented by Thomas Falb of Alton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge George Moran.
