Kenneth Brueggeman filed a suit against Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville in Madison County Circuit Court seeking damages in excess of $300,000.

In the suit filed May 13, Brueggeman claims he suffered falls, malnutrition, bedsores and a "raging" infection all of which caused him to suffer anxiety, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Brueggeman claims he has incurred huge expenses for medical care and suffered and permanent loss of enjoyment of life’s pleasures.

Brueggeman became a resident of Rosewood on Dec. 26, 2003, seeking medical care and treatment for his nutritional status, skin condition, neurological condition, and his general and physical condition.

He is represented by Merle Bassett of the Bassett Law Office in Wood River.

The complaint also alleges Rosewood failed to prevent or adequately treat Brueggeman's decubitus ulcers and infections in a timely manner.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Philip Kardis in Granite City.
