Motorcyclist sues uninsured motorist and his insurance provider

Shawn Brewer of East St. Louis filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court April 4 against a woman who left the scene of an accident and his own insurance company.

Brewer claims that on Nov. 14, 2004, Stephanie Visconti of St. Louis was driving too fast and not paying attention when she collided with his motorcycle while he was driving to work.

As a result of the accident, Brewer claims he has incurred medical bills of more than $50,000 and has suffered disabling injuries to his right leg, right ankle, spine, pelvis bone, left shoulder, head, neck, back, and other body parts.

The suit seeks at least $50,000 in compensatory damages plus punitive damages from Visconti claiming she left the scene of the accident while he lay seriously injured.

Brewer also is seeking at least $50,000 from Progressive Insurance claiming his insurance company told him that they could not pay his claim because the East St. Louis Police Department failed to complete a police report.

Brewer claims he has complied with all conditions set forth in his policy under its uninsured motorist coverage. He states his uninsured motorist coverage protects him with $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident.

Brewer is represented by Zane Cagle of Anderson & Associates of St. Louis.
