Brush with snow-buried chalk blocks cause permanent injury

Wegman Electric in East Alton

A truck driver at an East Alton business is blaming a snow removal service for permanent spinal injuries he sustained while backing into chalk blocks buried in the snow.

Jack Foley, an employee of Wegman Electric Co., filed suit Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dunnagan's Lawn Service seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

According to the suit, Wegman Electric hired Jeffrey R. Dunnagan of Dunnagan's Lawn Service on Feb. 14, 2003, to remove snow from its premises.

Dunnagan was negligent because it failed to completely remove snow from a loading dock area, the suit claims.

Foley, who is represented by Edward W. Unsell of East Alton, claims lost wages, permanent disability and pain and suffering.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Andy Matoesian.
