Missourians involved in a fatal car accident in southern Illinois last year filed a wrongful death and personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court Monday.
Seeking damages in excess of $50,000, Sue Lee Bailey and Betty Renfro are suing Andrew Hoyle of Mapleton for speeding through a stop sign in Marion and striking Bailey's vehicle, which resulted in the death of Bailey’s husband, William. Plaintiffs also allege Hoyle failed to keep a proper lookout and reduce his speed.
The accident occurred April 4, 2003, at the intersection of Illinois Route 148 and Old Illinois Route 13 in Williamson County. Mildred Bailey, who is not a named plaintiff in the case, was the driver of the plaintiff's vehicle.
In the personal injury counts, Bailey claims hand, arm, wrist, pelvis, neck and back injuries and Renfro’s complaint alleges bodily injuries. Bailey and Renfro are represented by Ronald D Robinson of Amelung, Wulff, & Willenbrock of St. Louis.
The case was assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
