Christopher DeSalvo v. The City of Collinsville and Mark Krug

On September 6th 2003, Plaintiff Christopher Desalvo of Orland Park, Illinois (in Chicago's Southwest Suburbs) was visiting the Collinsville Holiday Inn at Eastport Plaza when he alleges the defendant, Collinsville Police Officer Mark Krug arrested him without cause.

During the arrest, Desalvo claims that Officer Krug acted in an unreasonable manner and caused great bodily harm by using a taser stun gun which sent 50,000 volts of electricity through his body, which sent him into electric shock.

Desalvo claims that Krug deprived him of the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure under the 4th and 14th amendment. The plaintiff also claims that he was a victim of cruel and unusual punishment which under the 8th and 14th amendment prohibits such an act.

Desalvo is seeking damages of more than $50,000 for various medical and legal bills that have incurred, and has retained William D Stiehl Jr. of Belleville as counsel.

The case was filed Tuesday September 7th 2004 and has been assigned to the Hon. Andy Matoesian.
