John S. Meyer Jr. named 2015 Distinguished Alumnus

Attorney John S. Meyer Jr., chair of the Business & Real Estate practice group at Capes, Sokol, Goodman & Sarachan, has been named 2015 Distinguished Alumnus by Washington University School of Law.

Meyer joined Capes Sokol in 2007 as a shareholder and leader of the Business & Real Estate Practice Group.

Six months later, he was elected to the firm’s Executive Committee, on which he served for six years.

Meyer’s practice areas include Commercial Transactions & Finance, Real Estate Transactions & Dispute Resolution, Lending Disputes & Creditors’ Rights and a range of issues for not-for-profit organizations.

He received his juris doctorate from Washington University School of Law in 1984, and earned a B.A. in psychology from Yale University.

In 2013, Washington University School of Law named Meyer an Honorary Initiate of the Order of the Coif.

Meyer is a member of the National Council and former Chair of the Eliot Society and Annual Giving Campaign for Washington University School of Law, which achieved its membership goals for four consecutive years, from 2011-2014).

Meyer serves as Chairman of the Board of Loop Media Hub and Member of the Board of The Loop Trolley Company, which are non-profit corporations devoted to improving The Delmar Loop in St. Louis.

He also serves on the boards of Beyond Housing and St. Louis County Library Foundation and the Robert Burns Club of St. Louis executive committee.

Meyer is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Construction and Business Law sections of the American Bar Association.
