A woman injured as a passenger in a vehicle involved in an accident is suing the driver she believes is responsible.
Michelle Murray filed a complaint on May 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Patricia Fleming.
On May 17, 2013, Murray claims she was a passenger in a vehicle traveling through the City of Wood River, when the defendant allegedly caused a collision with a vehicle driven by Vicki Masiero, which then slammed into the vehicle in which Murray was seated, the suit states.
According to the lawsuit, Fleming was negligent when she drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, properly apply her brakes and reduce her speed, ran into another vehicle, followed too closely and drove while distracted.
The plaintiff, alleging internal and external injuries, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and loss of earnings and a normal life, seeks in excess of $50,000, plus costs. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Gregory M. Tobin in East Alton.
