Medical malpractice lawsuit over trigger release surgery voluntarily dismissed

A patient alleging a doctor removed too much of his tendon from his hand during a trigger release surgery has voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit against Dr. Joon Ahn.

Plaintiffs Donald George and Patricia George filed their motion for voluntarily dismissal on Feb. 13 through attorney Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin in Belleville. Circuit Judge Robert LeChien granted the request on Feb. 17.

According to the plaintiffs’ Nov. 24 lawsuit, Ahn performed a right middle finger trigger release on Donald George’s hand on Nov. 30, 2010. During the procedure, Ahn allegedly removed too much of Geroge’s tendon, resulting in the loss of the use of the hand.

The Georges had sought a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs.
