Patient dismisses lawsuit against eye care facility for vision condition

A patient has voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against a Madison County optometrist and eye care clinic for allegedly failing to diagnose and treat a vision condition.

Plaintiff Roger Watkins voluntarily dismissed the case with prejudice on Nov. 4 through attorney Frederick W. Keck of Weilmuenster Law Group in Belleville. Madison County Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder granted the voluntary dismissal on Nov. 13.

Watkins filed his Sept. 5 complaint against optometrist Chad Baker, Erin Enright and Clarkson Eyecare Inc. of St. Louis. He also named 3F Vision, doing business as Clarkson Eyecare of Illinois, as a defendant.

According to the complaint, Baker and Enright examined Watkins’ right eye at a Clarkson Eyecare facility on Sept. 5, 2012. The patient claims the optometrist and optometrist technician failed to properly dilate the eye and failed to properly recognize a condition “that led to retina/macular detachment.” Watkins says he went multiple times to the clinic for follow-up care but the condition went ignored, the suit states.

The plaintiff asked for more than $50,000 in damages from each of the defendants.
