A St. Clair County doctor and medical treatment facility are denying allegations in a lawsuit accusing them of injuring a patient during a cyst removal surgery.

Plaintiff David L. Womble filed his lawsuit on Sept. 19 against Dr. Kosit Prieb and Vascular & Hand Surgery Ltd.

According to the complaint, Womble says he was a patient of Prieb in November 2012 for surgery.

During the ganglion release surgery, Prieb allegedly caused damage to Womble’s ulnar nerve, the suit states.

Womble accuses the doctor and his employer of negligence.

The defendants answered the complaint on Nov. 17 denying the allegations against them.

Womble seeks more than $100,000 in damages for medical costs and court fees.

Circuit Judge Vincent Lopinot is presiding over the case. He scheduled a status conference for March 16 at 9:00 a.m.

Joseph A. Bartholomew of Belleville represents Womble.

The defendants are represented by Kenneth M. Burke of Brown & James, P.C., in Belleville. They demand a trial by jury.
