Woman alleges injuries after lamppost collapsed on her

A woman has filed suit against the owner of lamppost that she alleges collapsed on her, causing her various injuries.

Dianne McPeak alleges she was visiting defendant Sean McPeak at his home at 120 Dorchester Drive in Belleville on Dec. 2, 2012, when the incident occurred. The lamppost had been loosened from its foundation when Sean McPeak struck it with his automobile, according to the complaint filed Nov. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the incident, Dianne McPeak suffered feet, leg, hip, pelvis, torso, hand, arm, shoulder, neck and head injuries, the suit states. She required hospitalization and numerous surgeries, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Dianne McPeak alleges negligence against Sean McPeak, saying he failed to keep his property free from dangers, failed to fix the hazards presented by the lamppost and failed to warn of the dangers.

Dianne McPeak seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs, fees, attorney fees and other relief the court deems just.

Attorneys John J. Driscoll and Gregory J. Pals, of The Driscoll Firm in St. Louis, will represent Dianne McPeak.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-764.
