Two allege injuries in Homer Adams Parkway collision

Two Alton residents have filed suit against the driver whom they allege disobeyed a traffic signal, causing a collision.

According to a complaint filed Nov. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court, Jamie Norman was driving her 1991 Nissan Stanza west on Homer Adams Parkway, with Jonathan Norman as a passenger, and attempted to turn left onto Alby Street on Oct. 2 at 9:24 p.m. Suddenly, defendant Jackson John, who was traveling east on the same road, disobeyed a traffic signal and struck Jamie Norman's vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Jamie and Jonathan Norman sustained temporary and permanent injuries, incurred medical costs and Jamie Norman was prevented from attending to her usual duties, the suit states.

John negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to exercise proper control, failed to brake, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to obey a traffic control device, the complaint says.

The Normans seek a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Attorney Lanny Darr, of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton, will represent the plaintiffs.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1558.
