A former teacher has filed suit against the Catholic school that she alleges unjustifiably fired her.
Lynette M. Lambert filed a lawsuit Nov. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against St. John Neumann Catholic School, Jack Holmes and Pat Jakel.
In her complaint, Lambert alleges she was hired to teach at St. John on May 13, 2013, for a salary of $43,571. She also was eligible for pension benefits, insurance, paid sick leave and personal days, according to the complaint.
On Nov. 5, 2013, Lambert was fired from her employment with the school, the suit states.
Lambert contends Holmes, who was her supervisor, provided the school with information that the school utilized in its decision to terminate her. However, he gave the institution incomplete and inaccurate information, the complaint says.
"Holmes acted maliciously with personal animosity against Lambert, and Holmes acted for his own personal interest contrary to those of St. John School," the suit states.
Because of her job loss, Lambert lost wages and fringe benefits, the complaint says.
She seeks a judgment of more than $350,000, plus other relief the court deems just.
Attorney Michael J. Brunton, of Brunton Law Offices in Collinsville, will represent Lambert.
