A man is suing dozens of companies over claims his lung cancer was caused by decades of asbestos exposure.

Arthur Posik filed a lawsuit Aug. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against the Boeing Company, Ford Motor Company, General Electric and more than 60 other companies.

According to the complaint, Posik was exposed to asbestos in products manufactured, distributed and sold by the defendant companies while he worked as an aircraft mechanic in the 1950s, a boiler operator in the 1970s, and a sheet metal mechanic, and air conditioning and heating installer in the 1980s. Posik says he was diagnosed with lung cancer in June.

The manufacturing defendants are accused of negligence and willful and wanton conduct. Metropolitan Life Insurance is accused of conspiracy, and several other companies of spoliation of evidence for attempts to hide the knowledge of effects of asbestos exposure from the public. Boeing is accused of fraudulent misrepresentation, battery, negligence and willful and wanton conduct.

Posik is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from each of the defendants. He is represented by attorneys Randy L. Gori and Barry Julian of Gori, Julian & Associates in Edwardsville.

The lawsuit does not indicate where Posik resides.

The case number is St. Clair County Circuit Court case 14-L-607
