A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims struck her while she was riding her bicycle.

Elizabeth Perkins filed suit June 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nicholas Schofro and Frank Schofro.

According to the complaint, Perkins was riding north on Highway 157 in Centreville on Aug. 28, when defendant Nicholas, who was driving a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck in the same direction, struck her bike.

Due to the collision, Perkins sustained injuries, suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.

Perkins blames Nicholas for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout for her, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and drove too fast.

She also names Frank as a defendant, saying he owned the truck involved in the collision and lent it to Nicholas Schofro. However, he should never have allowed Nicholas to drive his vehicle because Nicholas has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol two times, had been charged with driving without a valid license two times, had been charged with improper lane usage two times and had been charged with failure to reduce speed three times, the suit states.

Perkins is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs. She will be represented by Steven Giacoletto of Giacoletto Law Firm in Collinsville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-524.
