A woman injured in a car accident is suing the driver of the car that crashed into her vehicle.

Amy G. Allen filed a lawsuit May 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Shawn R. Branham and James L. Scoogins, citing negligence.

Allen claims she was traveling north on U.S. 67 near the Clark Bridge in St. Charles County when the defendants ran into her vehicle on Sept. 27. The suit alleges the defendants failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to drive safely, failed to reduce their speed and drove while distracted, causing the accident that injured Allen. According to the complaint, Allen had to seek medical treatment as a result of the accident.

Allen is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented by attorney Gregory M. Tobin on Pratt and Tobin P.C.
