Head-on collision leads to Madison County suit

A man has filed suit against the driver he claims struck him in a head-on collision.

Michael Anderson filed suit April 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Henry Carle.

According to the complaint, Anderson was driving east on Illinois Highway 157 in Collinsville on April 18, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving west on the same road, struck his vehicle in a head-on collision.

Because of the incident, Anderson suffered severe and disabling injuries to his right shoulder and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint. He also suffered severe and disabling injuries to his right knee, incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

Anderson blames Carle for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, violated the Illinois law with regard to the rules of speed, failed to pay proper attention, failed to keep a careful lookout and failed to exercise due and proper care, the complaint says.

Anderson is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs, pre-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just. He is being represented by John L. Wilbers of The Wilbers Law Firm in Clayton, Mo.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-508.
