Couple seeks damages over Route 111 accident

A Madison County man and his wife have filed a lawsuit over various injuries they allegedly sustained in a collision.

Angela C. and Daniel Jensen filed a lawsuit March 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Joshua M. Heckman and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.

In their complaint, the Jensens allege they were driving their 2008 Dodge Avenger on Madison Avenue near its intersection with State Route 111 on March 31, 2012, when Heckman struck the back of their vehicle.

Because of the collision, the plaintiffs suffered severe pain, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.

They blame Heckman for causing the collision, saying he drove too fast, failed to keep a lookout ahead, failed to stop to avoid a collision and failed to warn of his impending approach.

At the time of the collision, the Jensens had an insurance policy through State Farm. Because Heckman was uninsured at the time, they are seeking compensatory damages from Heckman and State Farm of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

They are being represented by D. Todd Matthews and Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian and Associates in Edwardsville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-491.
