A home improvement company and public adjusters claim they have been deprived of thousands of dollars promised to them following work for a Granite City man.

GNB Home Improvement and GNB Public Adjusters filed a lawsuit Feb. 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against George Evans.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs claim they were hired to assist in the settlement of a claim against State Farm for hail and wind damage that occurred to Evans’s property at 2318 Edison Ave. in Granite City on April 28, 2012. GNB also agreed to perform work and to prepare documents for the settling of an insurance policy for hail and wind damages at 2881 Madison Ave. in Granite City and at 2322 Edison Ave. in Granite City, according to the complaint.

Evans owes GNB $15,500 for work performed at 2318 Edison Ave., $16,500 for work at 2322 Edison Ave. and $9,380.53 for its work at 2881 Madison Ave., the suit states. Evans also agreed to pay GNB 20 percent of the total amount State Farm agreed to pay under its claims for hail and wind damage, the complaint says. However, he has failed to do so, GNB claims.

In addition to the money it claims it is owed, GNB is seeking interest, attorney’s fees and costs. They are being represented by the Law Offices of Anthony G. Suizzo in Glenview.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-235.
