Passenger sues Madison County Transit over injuries

A passenger on a Madison County Transit bus is suing the agency and driver over injuries he sustained when he fell out of his seat.

Jerry Morgan filed suit Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court claiming injuries from a Feb. 5, 2013 incident.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred as the bus was traveling on Pontoon Road in Granite City. The driver allegedly failed to reduce speed to slow before crossing railroad tracks, the suit claims. Instead the driver “slammed on the brakes” while crossing the tracks, Morgan alleges.

Morgan also claims that as a result of the incident, he was knocked out of his seat and fell to the floor on his left shoulder and hip. He also hit his head, he claims.

The suit also names the Agency for Community Transit and the “John Doe” bus driver.

Morgan is represented by Mary Stewart of Collinsville.

Madison County case number 14-L-187.
