Gender Violence Act violated, says suit against ex-boyfriend

A woman has filed suit against her former boyfriend, saying he pushed her while he was intoxicated.

Melissa Scaturro filed a lawsuit Jan. 30 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christopher Morris.

The plaintiff claims she and the defendant were living together at 3732 Round Hill Road Apt. 12 in Swansea when they got into a verbal altercation on Sept. 29. During the argument, Morris, who was heavily intoxicated, pushed Scaturro to the floor in a violent and aggressive manner, according to the complaint.

Scaturro alleges Morris violated the Gender Violence Act by engaging in physical aggression.

She is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

The plaintiff is being represented by Shari L. Murphy of The Law Offices of Shari L. Murphy in Wood River.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-132.
