Driver blamed for driving in wrong lane, causing head-on collision

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims struck the vehicle in which she was riding in a head-on collision.

Lillian Bonner filed a lawsuit Jan. 31 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Keenan Smith.

Bonner claims she was riding west on Ostle Drive near its intersection with Westview Street in Collinsville in a 2000 Cadillac on Feb. 12, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am GT in the opposite direction, drove into her lane, causing a collision.

Because of the accident, Bonner suffered neck and back injuries, experienced great pain and mental anguish and suffered disability, according to the complaint.

Smith negligently drove into Bonner’s lane, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop in time to avoid a collision, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and drove too fast, the complaint says.

Bonner is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She is being represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-170.
