Linda Cousins filed suit Dec. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, naming Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Inc. in a product liability over the intrauterine contraceptive device Mirena IUS.

Bayer allegedly sold the device while overstating its efficacy and understating the potential health concerns, the suit claims. Cousins says the device has a tendency to migrate from its intended place.

Cousins is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by attorneys John J. Driscoll and Gregory J. Pals.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. is 13L641.
