Central Business Management worker claims retaliatory discharge

A St. Clair County resident is suing after he was allegedly terminated for exercising workers' compensation rights.

John H. Rosenkranz IV filed a retaliatory discharge lawsuit Dec. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against Central Business Management Services LLC and Theeventline.com Inc.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 26, 2011, Rosenkranz was repairing a piece of equipment at Central Business Management Services' Granite City location when he was injured. The plaintiff contends he complied with the defendants' policy for reporting workplace injuries, but the defendants wrongfully warned Rosenkranz that he did not comply. The warning constituted pretext, according to the complaint. The plaintiff states that on Feb. 8, 2012, he was terminated because he was pursuing workers' compensation benefits.

Rosenkranz is seeking actual damages, compensatory damages, back pay, future lost wages, fringe benefits and damages for emotional distress.

He is being represented in the case by Kevin C. Kaufhold of Kaufhold and Associates PC.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 13L2200.
