Two individuals blamed for improperly training a dog and causing it to bite its new owner has demanded a trial by jury through their new attorneys.
Gaute Larsen’s lawsuit originally filed in Cook County in February, was transferred to Madison County on Sept. 3 against Real Presa, doing business as Cabeza Grande Kennel, David Meyer of Pocahontas and Jennifer Chandler.
Larsen claims he attempted to give his Presa Canario dog, named Havoc, a bath on Feb. 13, 2011, but when the water touched Havoc, he allegedly attacked Larsen, the suit states.
The defendants are blamed for the attack for allegedly failing to properly train Havoc before selling him.
Larsen seeks a judgment of more than $300,000.
David Nemeroff of Nemeroff Law Offices in Chicago is representing Larsen.
James Murtaugh of Abramson, Murtaugh & Coghlan in Chicago withdrew his appearance as attorney for defendants Jennifer Chandler and David Meyer on Oct. 8. David O. Hesi of Bingley, Hart & Hesi in St. Louis stepped in to represent the defendants.
