Suit against Gateway Regional claims doctors failed to properly treat artery disease

A man has filed suit against Gateway Regional Medical Center, alleging he sustained mental anguish after his doctors failed to properly treat his medical condition.

Edward A. Crews claims defendant Drs. Kevin Kozen and Gustavo Von Der Lacken failed to treat his peripheral and coronary artery diseases.

As a result, Crews endured a corrective bypass of his aortic artery and his left femoral artery, according to the complaint filed Oct. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court.

In turn, he suffered mental and physical anguish, the suit states. In addition, his blocked left artery cannot be corrected through surgery, the suit states.

Crews does not specify how much he seeks in his complaint.

He will be representing himself.
