A poll released Oct. 5 by We Ask America shows a tightening race in the state’s 12th Congressional District.

The race to fill the seat being vacated by longtime Congressman Jerry Costello (D-Belleville) pits Republican Jason Plummer (R-O’Fallon) against Democrat Bill Enyart (D-Belleville).

In the poll, Plummer has a four point advantage over Enyart, 44-40.

A poll conducted in September by Democratic-leaning pollster Benenson Strategy Group showed Enyart over Plummer 49-41.

A poll conducted in August by Republican-leaning pollster Public Opinion Strategies showed Plummer over Enyart 45-28.

Real Clear Politics calls the race a toss up.

The Record is conducting its own – unscientific – poll of the race.
