The co-owner of a Madison County house says the other owner defrauded her out of her right to the property.

Paula Ware filed a lawsuit Sept. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Willie C. Taylor.

Ware says she and Taylor co-owned a house on the 400 block of Lincoln Street in Venice. In November 2009 Taylor allegedly filed a quit claim deed with the Recorder’s Office in Madison County, transfering any interest Ware had in the property to Taylor. However, according to the complaint, Taylor forged Ware’s signature on that document.

Ware accuses Taylor of fraud and intentionally depriving her of her property rights by converting the house to his name without her permission. She asks for more than $100,000 in damages and court costs.

Attorney Samuel A. Mormino of Alton represents Ware.
