A Fenton, Mo. trucking company is accused of firing one of its employees for filing a workers’ compensation claim.

Louis Doty filed a lawsuit Aug. 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kenworth of St. Louis, Inc.

Doty says he worked for Kenworth beginning in July 2008. Doty alleges he was fired from his job as a second-shift supervisor in January after he filed a workers’ compensation claim for an aggravation of a pre-existing condition in his foot. Doty claims he was about to have surgery to repair his flatfoot condition when he was fired.

Doty is suing Kenworth for violating Missouri and Illinois workers’ compensation laws and he seeks an unspecified amount of money in compensatory and punitive damages plus court fees.

Attorney James R. Mendillo of Belleville represents Doty.
