A St. Clair County woman is suing an Elwin trucking company after one of its drivers allegedly crashed into the car she was riding in.

Martina Pacheco filed a lawsuit Aug. 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Morgan Express Inc. and Dexter McCausland.

Pacheco was a passenger in a 2008 Nissan Altima in February 2011, according to the complaint, and driving on Interstate 55. Near mile marker 3, Pacheco says a 1999 Volvo tractor trailer owned by Morgan Express and being driven by McCausland veered into her lane and caused the Altima to crash into a concrete barrier on the side of the road.

Pacheco claims she was hurt in the crash and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Matthew J. Sauter of St. Louis.
