A St. Clair County man is accused of driving into oncoming traffic while allegedly being distracted by a cell phone conversation.
Christopher Hurst filed a lawsuit against Kyle Daniels July 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In August 2011, Hurst says he was stopped in the left turn lane of Illinois Route 161 waiting behind other cars to turn onto Radio Range Road. According to the complaint, Daniels was driving east on Route 161, crossed over the center line and crashed head-on into the line of cars waiting to turn. Hurst claims the impact of the crash caused the cars in front of him to then collide with his car. Hurst contends Daniels was talking on his phone at the time of the crash.
Hurst accuses Daniels for negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court fees.
He is represented by attorney Matthew A. Marison of Belleville’s Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin law firm.
