A Jacksonville man says he was hurt when the rolling mechanic’s seat he was using allegedly broke.
Ronald Steven Beauford filed a lawsuit July 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against YTL International Inc., Sears Holdings Corporation, Chris Jaques and Whiteside Manufacturing Company.
Beauford says he bought a Craftsman Creeper from Sears in Jacksonville in July 2010. A short time later, Beauford says he was sitting on the rolling seat when the weld broke on the valve of the creeper,
Beauford accuses the manufacturer and distributor of the creeper, YTL International and Whiteside Manufacturing Company, of negligence and claims they are liable for his injuries. Sears and its owner, Jaques, are accused of the same, for allegedly making and selling a defective product and not warning customers of its potential danger.
Beauford seeks more than $400,000 in damages, plus the costs of the lawsuit.
He is represented by attorney Edward W. Unsell of East Alton.
