A Granite City woman says she was forced to have a toe amputated after she allegedly got an infection from a visit to a nail salon.
Elise Thompson filed a lawsuit June 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Diem Huong Thy Pham, doing business as #1 Nails and doing business as Number 1 Nails.
According to the complaint, Thompson visited the Granite City salon located on Nameoki Road in July 2010 to get a pedicure. Thompson claims the company failed to sterilize its nail equipment properly and used improper technique to perform the pedicure. As a resuly, Thompson alleges she contracted an infection in one of the toes on her left foot and had to have it amputated to avoid further injury.
Thompson accuses #1 Nails and its owner of negligence and breach of care. She asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical care, lost wages and court fees.
